Boring
Boring is a method of machine drilling into an existing hole or cast. Often these tools bore into engine cylinders or metal barrels. Boring helps get greater accuracy of a hole’s diameter, often cutting a tapered hole. It’s the internal diameter counterpart to turning. CoxMHP has become masters at boring for customer’s needing greater accuracy in their products and tools.
There are two methods of Boring:
-
Back-boring
-
Line-boring
-
Single Line
-
Double Line
Back-boring is drilling into an existing hole, while Line-boring is drilling through a blind hole. These operations have existing counterparts to cylindrical grinding. Millers, Jig borers and lathes are common boring machines. CoxMHP has the ability to utilize all types of boring machines to achieve the best finished product.
Lathes are usually smaller machined projects while boring is a larger scale machined project. Boring should decrease the product tolerance on pre-existing holes. Deep hole boring can be difficult, but rest assured CoxMHP has the knowledge to manufacture any product you’re looking for. We can use these procedures and others to make the best product possible for your team. We strive to create the best products in the world, and we aim to deliver every time.
