Conventional Sinker EDM
Sinker EDM, also called cavity type or volume EDM, is a process that CoxMHP uses to create precise machining parts. The EDM process consists of an electrode and workpiece submerged in an insulating liquid, such as oil. The system is connected to a power supply, generating an electrical potential between the two parts. The electrode causes a small spark through the dielectric liquid, by breaking it down into a plasma channel. “On and off time” settings help the cutter to determine how deep the cavity will go. The on time settings determine the length and duration of the spark. With these settings, CoxMHP will be able to accurately manufacture your project or assembly.
The Sinker EDM process used by CoxMHP can accurately cut and manufacture precision items from the following metals:
- Titanium
- Precious Metals
- Tool Steel
- Aluminum
CoxMHP has extensive experience in Sinker EDM, especially with hard metals like tool steel. From vertical to orbital to rotational, we can create any product you desire. Aerospace, automobile and electronic industries are increasingly needing EDM work. We can create a great finish at high tolerances with no distortion of the piece.
CoxMHP has the tools to cut machine exact layouts of pieces for your needs from hardened materials to soft pieces. Whether you are needing a short machine production run or contract part manufacturing, we will deliver.
